Prior to becoming a Personal Trainer 19 years ago, Dave Johnson was a Licensed Physical Therapist for 10 years as well as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). Frustrated with having to discharge patients before they reached their personal goals or seeing injuries on the athletic field that were preventable, “I was often asked if I did personal training on the side. It was a tough decision, so I started my personal training business on a part-time basis at first but quickly fell in love with helping people get fit, healthy and improve their sports performance BEFORE they needed physical therapy or an athletic trainer. I promptly changed my status to full-time Personal Trainer and have never regretted my decision.”

Here at Extreme Fitness Results it is our intent to teach clients how to quickly and safely reach high levels of function and performance without interfering with home duties, jobs or sports.
The FMS is a ranking and grading system of 7 fundamental movement patterns that are key to SAFE participation in a fitness or sports program. Knowing your FMS score for movement dysfunction is the equivalent of knowing your Blood Pressure for risk of heart disease. This is the same test administered to NFL football players and Special Forces of the US military as a screen for injury risks and/or performance deficiencies. But do not worry; FMS is safe, takes about 10 minutes to administer and is applicable for junior high students to senior citizens.

Wear comfortable clothes but not excessively loose or baggy to ensure proper body alignment as you are training. Also wear minimalist shoes or no shoes so your feet can properly stabilize you as you are training.
Sessions last one hour but occasionally last longer to return you to your resting heart rate. Use of diaphragmatic breathing as well as reflexively reset your posture to its resting position. My clients refer to this as decompressing. At the end of your training session, we want to make sure you leave both energized and refreshed to start your day or relaxed and stress-free at the end of the day depending when your training session is scheduled.
Believe it or not very little. I’ve worked with professional athletes to senior citizens and in 17 years of personal training nobody has ever complained. An over-abundance of training equipment is usually a sign a trainer does not know how the human body works and the equipment is a way to hide their lack of knowledge and experience. An overview of exercises and tools that have been giving people results for over 200 years is as follows:
I’ll Guarantee you this is how the most athletic strongest people in the world train. No frills, whistles or bells, just results.
A Therapeutic Training Day is the day after your game, competition or event and you feel achy, stressed-out and drained. This is the day after a football game, 2 rounds of golf or maybe standing at a trade show all weekend. Recovery is as important as a training session for reaching short and long-term training goals. During a therapeutic training session, I will teach you various self-mobilizations, soft tissue and stretching techniques that will speed-up the recovery process so you’ll feel great and look forward to your next training session, competition or event.
Obviously stop the offending exercise. As a former Licensed Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer you will be in good hands. Unless you’ve been extremely lucky, most of my clients have incurred an injury at some point in their lives. Lower back pain, ACL tears, shoulder instabilities, rotator cuff tendonitis, patellofemoral dysfunction, plantar fasciitis, osteoarthritis just to name a few. The good news is I can teach you how to treat your own aches and pains through various self-mobilizations, soft tissue work, stretching and stabilization techniques you can do at home. Lastly, if your old injury does not respond to self-treatment, I can refer you to a world-class doctor in the area that I personally know when I was a Physical Therapist.
