WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY?

Prior to becoming a Personal Trainer 19 years ago, Dave Johnson was a Licensed Physical Therapist for 10 years as well as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). Frustrated with having to discharge patients before they reached their personal goals or seeing injuries on the athletic field that were preventable, “I was often asked if I did personal training on the side. It was a tough decision, so I started my personal training business on a part-time basis at first  but quickly fell in love with helping people get fit, healthy and improve their sports performance BEFORE they needed physical therapy or an athletic trainer. I promptly changed my status to full-time Personal Trainer and have never regretted my decision.”

RAVING REVIEWS, LIFE CHANGING RESULTS

Bob Shaunnessey

Hi my name is Bob If that sounds like a 12 step program maybe that’s so I am an ex high school athlete, marine, I did long distance running for years and mountain climbing etc. This caused two knee operations and miscellaneous injuries about every 2 years. Been training with Dave for 7 years. I am stronger, more flexible and injury free since that time. If that sounds like a better life to you, try Dave. Bob

Char Shaunnessey

Age is just a number when training with Dave. I am stronger, walk taller, have more flexibility and continue to add muscle. NO OLD LADY ARMS FOR ME.

Rich Kuhlman

I have been working with Trainer Dave Johnson at EFR for over 4 years and am a total believer in his program to improve mobility and stability as well as improving strength as an added benefit. I am an avid cyclist and am riding better than I ever have relative to my current age. I cannot say enough about the benefits of this program and by the way I am 72 years old?

Leah Sanda

I’ve been training with Dave for about 3 years. I am stronger, more functional, more free of pain and more injury resistant now than ever. Being a competitive athlete heading into my 50s, his work keeps me from losing ground due to age. Plus, Dave keeps the reigns on me so I don’t get over fatigued which allows me to put my maximal effort into training for my main sport. And when I blew up my shoulder in a crash and he adjusted my training and kept me from losing ground with the end result of a better functioning shoulder than before the injury.

Cindi Brankin

My fitness goals have changed over the years. In my twenties it was all about achieving great abs, my thirties were all about getting back into pre-baby shape. In my forties my concern shifted to aging well. In the three years I have been training with Dave, I can honestly say I am in the BEST shape of my life at 46. I am looking forward to my fifties, sixties and beyond because I know I will spend them being active and healthy.

Mike Faucher

Trainer Dave’s workout regimen he has taught to me over the last year and a half is awesome! I am 61 years old and my strength and flexibility have vastly improved due to what he has taught to me. PLUS I ADDED 20 YARDS TO MY TEE SHOT! I will remain a client for years to come and I recommend this program to anyone young and old.

John Kay

I have been a client of Trainer Dave’s for over 5 years. His technique, approach, and knowledge of the human body’s anatomy to physical fitness does not require the use of machines but the individual’s own body through a series of stretches and Kettle Bell workouts. This program has resulted in many cardiovascular benefits for myself including maintaining an optimum body weight and increased mobility, stability, and strength in performance of everyday activities.

Barbara Carlini

Since I’ve been training with Dave, I believe I am stalling the effects of aging with improved balance, flexibility and strength. I have recommended him to relatives to improve their impaired movement.

I first met Trainer Dave at the Chalet Sports Core in 2002 while I was working out in the weight room. He showed me several variations to the exercises which I was doing that were putting me at risk for injury. I continued to consult with Dave from time to time as he always had some new exercises to try. When my wife broke her ankle I asked Dave if he would work with her. He replied that as soon as she finished her prescribed Physical Therapy. After he began working with her he spotted me in the weight room doing a leg lift machine what could easily lead to back problems and invited me to join him and my wife for a regular three times per week session. I joined them and found that Dave was much more than an athletic trainer but a certified Physical Therapist which explained his knowledge of preventing workout injuries.I have been with Dave twice a week ever since. I have become well versed in using Russian Kettle Bells, Turkish Get-Ups, various forms of stretches to protect a failing knee, and currently we are doing ‘re-sets’ to counteract the aging process. I enjoyed my 79th birthday last week and have never felt better, thanks to Dave and his ability to stay on top of all new tested techniques.

I originally worked with Dave 15 years ago. At the time, my goals were more athletic. As i have aged, aches, pains and stiffness have developed. My goals have, therefore, shifted. I desire to be active (career, family, and home projects) in a relatively pain-free way. Dave has helped me by diagnosing movement deficits and orthopedic problems, and corrected those conditions. His approach is customized to my needs and desires and allows me to exercise at home with a relatively small amount of equipment. As a result, I am better able to pursue activities with less pain and fatigue, and to recover faster, than i was 15 years ago.

Trainer Dave Johnson has been an integral part of my physical fitness for a good amount of my life, and still greatly look forward to every session with him. Dave is by far the best and most knowledgeable physical trainer I’ve ever come across. This is still the case even after having played at an elite high school and collegiality. He helped me reach many athletic goals and helped me come back stronger from numerous injuries. Even now after my athletic career is over he has unlocked physical potential in me that I never thought possible. Thanks to Trainer Dave my body and mind feel better than they ever have, and I know I am setting myself u for a healthy future. Just give him a chance and follow his directions and your fitness goals will be achieved and surpassed.

Carter Kopach

I had the privilege of working with Trainer Dave through most of my high school career and parts of my college career and to this day he was far and beyond the best “trainer” I have come across or heard about. Throughout my experience with Dave he was top notch in providing me the most up to date training methods and workouts. My strength and speed numbers greatly improved, and so did my understanding for why the methods he prescribed me worked so well. Beyond the strength/speed numbers that will see great improvement, one of Dave’s greatest assets is his commitment to providing the athlete the most up to date methods through unparalleled research and study. Dave will provide you with the best training methodology there is and have explanation as to why the methods are so optimal. Trainer Dave also worked with my two brothers (Kitt and Kyler) and they would echo my praise. We all enjoyed our athletic careers and have Dave to thank for a major portion of our success. If your child is truly interested in seeing their full potential, I would greatly assure you that you can do no better than Trainer Dave Johnson.

Charles Cooper

I have been playing ultimate Frisbee in Chicago at various levels of competition for almost 20 years. At 36, (after many years of just playing in recreational leagues) I found myself playing again on a competitive club team. I was having a great time, and I felt a new desire to become a better and more competitive player. I wondered if I put in the right work, would it be possible for a 36 year old man to become faster, jump higher, and play better. Eventually through a series of referrals, I found my way to Extreme Fitness Results, and have been a dedicated client for almost two years. I joined hoping to find an avenue to become a better and more athletic ultimate Frisbee player. Extreme Fitness Results has granted me a fountain of youth that has allowed me to play competitively with men 15-20 years my junior. I can make plays that 3 years ago I had no chance of making. The exercises and techniques are simple, time efficient, and require very little equipment and financial investment. The workouts, resets, and corrective exercises have become a part of my daily life that I cannot imagine living without. Trainer Dave has given me a set of tools that help me not just in my athletic pursuits, but more importantly in my daily life.

Marge Kielczynski

Extreme Fitness Results offers a different and unique way to reach your fitness goals. During my life, I have been active in collegiate sports and some international competitions. As I was nearing retirement I knew I wanted to give my health and overall fitness a kick start to regain some of that which was slipping away, through age, as well as slower and fewer workouts. With Extreme Fitness Results I am working one on one, (you have the option to workout with another if you prefer). Extreme Fitness Results is individual attention and custom workouts. The program I do with Trainer Dave I can continue to do on my own at home and even when i travel. There is no real equipment needed and only a limited space is required. Dave makes sure I know what to do, the how and why to do it, and continually encourages you to do more on your own. There is always a way to grab a few minutes of exercise throughout your day. What I have noticed are small changes that make big differences, an example is my posture which I did not consider bad, has improved. While posture doesn’t seem life a lot I noticed I walk, stand and sit straighter with my spine, neck and head aligned. This in turn allows me to walk longer and more efficiently, sit in a way that my back doesn’t get tired, and stand a long time without foot or back problems. We also worked on proper breathing and resetting of the back/spine. With this working properly and efficiently I can do More in all aspects. With the exercises, I know all my joints are flexible (more flexible now) which reduces injuries and slows the aging process. For me it is important to maintain independent and mobile for my later years. By being healthy with exercise, maintaining joint health, posture and proper breathing I am healthier. Recently I injured my knee with a meniscus tear. With some proper exercises, I was able to avoid a surgery and some of the unhealthy aspects that accompany it. I feel better avoiding any surgery I can and taking better care of myself.

WHAT IS THE FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREEN (FMS)?

The FMS is a ranking and grading system of 7 fundamental movement patterns that are key to SAFE participation in a fitness or sports program. Knowing your FMS score for movement dysfunction is the equivalent of knowing your Blood Pressure for risk of heart disease. This is the same test administered to NFL football players and Special Forces of the US military as a screen for injury risks and/or performance deficiencies. But do not worry; FMS is safe, takes about 10 minutes to administer and is applicable for junior high students to senior citizens.

FAQ

#1

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Call 630-479-9035 or email davejohnsonpt@sbcglobal.net Schedule a FREE Health Consultation and Functional Movement ScreenFMS. If you decide to sign-up for one of our packages this information will be invaluable for designing a safe and results oriented health, fitness, performance program.

#2

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY TRAINING SESSIONS?

Wear comfortable clothes but not excessively loose or baggy to ensure proper body alignment as you are training. Also wear minimalist shoes or no shoes so your feet can properly stabilize you as you are training.

#3

HOW LONG DO TRAINING SESSIONS LAST?

Sessions last one hour but occasionally last longer to return you to your resting heart rate. Use of diaphragmatic breathing as well as reflexively reset your posture to its resting position. My clients refer to this as decompressing. At the end of your training session, we want to make sure you leave both energized and refreshed to start your day or relaxed and stress-free at the end of the day depending when your training session is scheduled.

#4

WHAT TYPE OF EXERCISE EQUIPMENT WILL I BE USING?

Believe it or not very little. I’ve worked with professional athletes to senior citizens and in 17 years of personal training nobody has ever complained. An over-abundance of training equipment is usually a sign a trainer does not know how the human body works and the equipment is a way to hide their lack of knowledge and experience. An overview of exercises and tools that have been giving people results for over 200 years is as follows:

I’ll Guarantee you this is how the most athletic strongest people in the world train. No frills, whistles or bells, just results.

#5

WHAT IS A THERAPEUTIC TRAINING DAY?

A Therapeutic Training Day is the day after your game, competition or event and you feel achy, stressed-out and drained. This is the day after a football game, 2 rounds of golf or maybe standing at a trade show all weekend. Recovery is as important as a training session for reaching short and long-term training goals. During a therapeutic training session, I will teach you various self-mobilizations, soft tissue and stretching techniques that will speed-up the recovery process so you’ll feel great and look forward to your next training session, competition or event.

#6

WHAT IF DURING MY TRAINING SESSION AN OLD INJURY STARTS TO GET AGGRAVATED?

Obviously stop the offending exercise. As a former Licensed Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer you will be in good hands. Unless you’ve been extremely lucky, most of my clients have incurred an injury at some point in their lives. Lower back pain, ACL tears, shoulder instabilities, rotator cuff tendonitis, patellofemoral dysfunction, plantar fasciitis, osteoarthritis just to name a few. The good news is I can teach you how to treat your own aches and pains through various self-mobilizations, soft tissue work, stretching and stabilization techniques you can do at home. Lastly, if your old injury does not respond to self-treatment, I can refer you to a world-class doctor in the area that I personally know when I was a Physical Therapist.
